Kia ora, Hello, Mahalo, Hola, greetings in the language of your culture and your place. Let me give you a warm welcome to the website and to the worldwide community of New Pacific Studio.
We believe that the creative power of any community can be released by the simple act of collecting and sharing its stories.
The stories, dreams and hopes of its young people in schools. And the stories, memories and hopes of its older people. |

Where shall we start? Draw round your hand, add your name and date, and think for a moment: where did your journey begin today? And where did your life journey begin? That’s a story I want to hear.
New Pacific Studio has invented Story Spot as a way of encouraging people to start the telling. We have dozens of hands and stories collected over the past five years in California and Aotearoa New Zealand.

All of us in the 21st century live double lives –we are indigenous somewhere, and we are migrant everywhere else. By learning each other’s stories, we can learn how to live together in more exciting ways.
It’s good to remember that tourists are short-term migrants. They are keen to learn the stories of the places they travel through, and also willing to share a bit of their own life story. This is an opportunity for exchange that still waits to be developed. Shopping is fun, but story-swapping is even more fun! Try it!
Best,
Kay Flavell
